Field Notes

Description:

This butterfly flew around very fast then always landed under a branch of a tree with wings closed. It was dark in the forest, on the banks of a lagoon.

Habitat:

Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, a mosaic of elongated lagoons, connected by creeks, savannas and logwood thickets.

Notes:

Possibly from the genus Perisama, Biblidinae are recognised by their diverse but simple and colourful patterns. Neotropical subtribe Callicorina.
