Field Notes

Description:

This small, juvenile jumping spider was so small and cute. It got tired of the ants so it shot its silk toward a tree and eventually made it. The video shows it releasing the silk and interacting with ants. This spider was tan with black spots on the abdomen. It had a dark top on the cephalothorax. The legs are faintly striped.

Trash can at Daley Ranch

Hi Chun, this little one was trying to get away but not urgently. I think these ants were pretty docile.
Wow, the jumping spiders of the US sure are much more braver. The jumpers here are even afraid of small ants like these.
