Field Notes

Description:

Two immature raptors in a pine tree. I believe these were both immature Peregrinne Falcons, but am unsure. The face was very dark (like a mask), but the call threw me off. Also just unsure.

The following link contains its call: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXcfxTpnw68

Habitat:

Pine trees, saw palmetto, and variety of snags and flowering plants.

Notes:

Picture was taken at the University of Florida Natural Area Teaching Laboratory.

Species ID Suggestions

Mississippi Kite - immature

Ictinia mississippiensis

Merlin

Falco columbarius
