Description:

I spotted this while on a hike several years back. I didn't have time to stop and observe this bizarre nest (or whatever it is) but did have time to snap this photo. We were hiking through the Sumaco Biosphere Reserve when I had seen this. I hope someone can help me ID this.

Notes:

4-5 feet in height,
within 100 yards of a creek,
suspended a few feet above the forest floor
