Description:

Tan body with a black-tipped tail.

Habitat:

Found in the central US in prairie habitats, they now only occupy 1% of their historic range.

Um we didn't see the roughie near this particular prairie dog town, but there are lots of small dog towns all over the place and I didn't pay attention if there was one near him. We were scanning this town to see if the burrowing owls were back yet, but no luck. Supposedly Ferruginous Hawks are common around prairie dog towns, but I have only seen two and they weren't near dog towns.
The Prairie Dogs are cute. Is this what the Rough-leg was looking for?
