Field Notes

Description:

A native Small Carpenter Bee pollinating an invasive Mock Strawberry
(Potentilla Indica).

Habitat:

Lives in galleries (carved tunnels in wood, term only used for carpenter bees) searches for pollen.

Notes:

May burrow into houses but the cheapest and best way to stop this is to hang a log especially with spots that have no bark. They prefer to use a log over housing wood but often have no logs to go to instead.
