Field Notes

Description:

Stocky female wolf spider. up to 2cm. very little pattern showing but that may be because the carapace has been worn as is often seen in spiders

Habitat:

by a path through a well grassed oval surrounded by landscaped native bushes and trees. Nocturnal

Notes:

once again the camera will not focus in this habitat plus the spider blends in. Despite having photographed Badumna for many years this specimen still required some checking with references to be sure it was not a Badumna so the tags include the genus

Species ID Suggestions

Black house spider

Badumna insignis

Thanks again Alec. I went and took and image of a Badumna and put it next to this spider and I am sure this one is a Wolf Spider of some sort. The legs of the Badumna are lighter with bands. The thorax is different and the body of the Badumna is more of a peanut shape while this is tear drop.
