Field Notes

Description:

The emerald green bird is the most common hummingbird in our area for this time of year. This one I spotted in a tree and after I took the first shot, it flashed it's color at the camera and got the chance to see it's brillant iridescent reddish-pink face feathers.

Habitat:

Can be found near flowering Eucalyptus trees, flowers with nectar and hummingbird feeders.

I see...Thanks for sharing Jellis :)
The feathers there kinda work like sequins. Certain angles show. They puff up when they sing or for a warning or when they attract females. The color doesn't always show.
Wow...where's the magenta color gone at the 2nd pict? ;)
