Field Notes

Description:

Brown, beige and cream moth.

Habitat:

Garden in Subtropical Climate.

Notes:

Many of these caterpillars were found on a large Elephant ear (Taro). I kept one to see what would emerge from the chrysalis and this moth came out about 3 weeks later.

I noted that just before they leave the leaves to go to the ground they turn brown. Decided to add a photo.
Thank you Mark. So much to learn on here, especially how to describe the creatures. It is selfish of me, but I want to keep the species together for my own purposes? I hope that is ok.
Hi again Paula. There is no need to put suggestions on your own spottings.. just put the names in by re-editing. Also you could make the adult a spotting of it's own if you want. Nice job to grow it out for 'science' :)
The caterpillar is definitely the Hawk Vine Moth any slight differences to the Queensland Hawk Vine Moth are negligible.
