Field Notes

Description:

Small yellow and black wasps. The hive was about as big as a basketball.

Habitat:

This tree hive is located in Blairsville, GA. The nest appears menacing, like an old mummified face without eyes. It is actually very beautiful, and a wonderful feat of ingenuity. The wasps were very active throughout the day.

Notes:

Side note: I went into an antique store the same day I took this and saw an empty hive for sale.
