Field Notes

Description:

Walking along a path through the jungle bordering on a lagoon, this butterfly flew past me, landed on a log for a minute and flew off. I just fired off a quick shot, and it turned out not too bad.
Beautiful blue colour when the light caught the scales on the wings.

Habitat:

Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, a mosaic of elongated lagoons, connected by creeks, savannas and logwood thickets.

Notes:

Possibly a Mexican Bluewing ?

thanks Francisco. I'll be in Mexico in a couple of days. Hoping to find lots of butterflies in Chiapas...
