Description:
A medium size damselfly. Its bluish green head and orange base and the tip of the abdomen is quite distinctive and cannot be mistaken for other species. Its thorax is green above fading to blue on the sides. Has light yellow to yellow legs. Transparent wings with amber coloured wing-spot.
Mostly seen in jerky flight among vegetation at medium height, hawking for insects, as well as for other damselflies, as it is seen here, it was feeding on another damsel of same species. Excellent predator of mosquitoes too.
Habitat:
This damsel, I had seen, was perched on a tall grass in a marshy, forested area.
They are commonly found on the banks of ponds, rivers and canals sitting on dry twigs and vegetation over water.
This species breeds in a wide variety of standing water habitats, from drains in town and cities to marshes and swamp forest, and even the landward margins of mangrove swamp.
