Field Notes

Description:

Relativity large for an armadillo, very distinct bands(9) across back.

Habitat:

Post-oak cross-timbers, near a lake. Heavily leafy under-story. Ground was slightly wet due to recent rains.

Notes:

I tried to stay as quiet as possible and still move a little closer. I got a few feet closer, but then I didn't have to move anymore. The little bugger started running straight for me, he kept rooting around through the leaves until he was literally inches from my feet.
