Field Notes

Notes:

I've often heard the signature shrill and song of the Skylark as I walk the South Downs of West Sussex. I surprisingly heard them in full song this past Sunday so I thought to take a look.

Incredibly hard birds to capture when in their song flight and of course then they drop to below the grass line. I did manage to capture a sequence mind you and thought on to share.

As I was leaving the bird in the other pictures rested on a barbed wire fence. Now everything in me says this has to be a Skylark I saw and heard nothing else, I just cannot say it confidently. Most ID's I look are not conclusive.

I notice they are considered 'Red Status' by the RSPB.
