Field Notes

Description:

A mud dauber? Apparently hunting in these wild grapes. All black except for bright yellow antennae and leading edge of a pair of it's wings. The fruit were each ~5/8" diameter. My estimate of the dauber's length, not including antennae is 1.5 inches. Lengthening out it's serpentine body and antennae would make overall length greater than 2 inches.

Habitat:

Edge of a large cattail marsh with slow moving, shallow, muddy bottom stream.

Notes:

Many odanates present today.
