Field Notes

Description:

Lactarius pseudomucidus or Lactarius gerardii group. I broke a little piece off of this one and it produced white latex. The gills are white white the stipe and cap are brown, while the base of the stipe that was underground was more white. Top of the cap not perfectly smooth. There were a few others scattered around nearby.

Habitat:

Mossy forest floor of a Sitka Spruce forest. Understory consisting of occasional ferns, salmonberry bushes, blueberry bushes, and very little else.
