Description:
This lizard is grey with brown, black, and white markings. It is a relatively large lizard with long toes, a long tail, and sharp claws. Sizes range between seven and half to eleven inches long.
Habitat:
Habitat includes the following trees: prefers Mesquite, but can also be found in Oak, Pecan and Cedar. Can also be found basking on fencing, and telephone poles. Inhabits north, central, and south Texas, Oklahoma, and northern and eastern Mexico.
Notes:
We spotted this fellow sitting in an Oak tree in a field next to our playground. Fun Facts: These lizards are insectivorous (eat insects). They are diurnal. Eggs are laid in a nest that the mother lizard digs. Incubation is approximately 60 days. Young are about 2 inches in length and once hatched can care for themselves.
