Field Notes

Description:

large, reddish lanternbug

Habitat:

miombo woodlands, 1000m

Notes:

I spotted this species before but it was dead. This was the first one I spotted that was alive. Just as I thought it was going to fly away when it opened its wings, it didn't. It just walked a bit, then stopped and then walked a bit again, repeating this pattern for a while, all with its wings open.
