Field Notes
Description:
Shiny black with the pronotum and elytra bright red or reddish testaceous. Antennae relatively short with a proportionately long three segmented club, black with four or five basal segments pale. Eyes convex and prominent.
The males measure about 5 mm in length, but the females are larger, at around 7 to 8 mm.
Habitat:
Often found in woodland on Oak, but also on other trees such as Beech and Birch.
