Description:
The Creeping Barberry (Repens) is generally described as a perennial subshrub or shrub. This is native to the U.S. (United States) has its most active growth period in the spring . The Creeping Barberry (Repens) has green foliage and inconspicuous yellow flowers, with a moderate amount of conspicuous blue fruits or seeds. The greatest bloom is usually observed in the mid spring, with fruit and seed production starting in the summer and continuing until fall. Leaves are retained year to year. The Creeping Barberry (Repens) has a longh life span relative to most other plant species and a slow growth rate. At maturity, the typical Creeping Barberry (Repens) will reach up to 2 feet high, with a maximum height at 20 years of 2 feet.

Berries are edible and used to make jellies.

The Hopi, Paiute, Navajo, Shoshoni, Blackfoot, Cheyenne, Mendocino, and other tribes also used the plant for medicinal, food, and ceremonial needs. Native Americans also used the wood of the stem to produce yellow dyes.
