Dude...thanks. Caught my breath when I saw it.
This is a member of the orchid family. It will put up a single spike of small white flowers. The "plantain" part of the common name comes from the appearance of the rosette of basal leaves. The "rattlesnake" part comes from the rattle-like appearance of the flower spike.
