Description:

Black rat snake?

Small black snake
Round pupils
When I got too close it pretended to be a rattlesnake (tail vibrating in dead leaves)

Habitat:

Spotted in flower bed under a lavender plant. Know living area of chipmunks, small skinks (lizards), and one big toad.
