Field Notes

Description:

It is a pure white fluffy looking bug. It is about 2cm wide and 6cm tall. It is a sphere, and its has white hair all along its body. It has six legs, but the fur makes it look like it had more legs.

Habitat:

I found it on a tree in the rainforest at Singapore American School.

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

Funny enough, it just has 6 legs. (but a lot of hairy bits--it makes them look bigger and it mimics bird poop or fungus) The scientific name is a two-word latin name that scientists give different species. When we might talk about a "leaf hopper", we want to be specific in science, so we name this species differently than all other leaf hoppers.
