Hi Glean, It's I.d yet :) From AfriBats last night : New World leaf-nosed bat Phyllostomidae
I can't say for sure Mona, and from pictures of leaf-nosed bats suggested by AfriBtas, the ears and nose of these don't look alike at all? I've added another close up of the heads, maybe that will help. Otherwise, I still think that Gerardo Aizpuru suggestion is right on.
Is this the sonora common vampire Bat?
Okay.. I will try to check other books again and internet aswell to get some information..., I can't stop thinking about something if I can't I.D it. :-) For me the shape of the nose is not that too long. But I might be wrong..
Mona, right now with the lousy WiFi here at work, I'm unable to check out your link. I'll have a look once I get home or when the connection here is better.

I think Gerardo nailed it with his ID.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_leaf-nosed_bat This species live in California and Mexico..
I'm really not too sure Mona. I'll crop one of the pictures to get a closer look and post it.
It's more like leaf-nosed bat. From the shape of the nose. How long the ears. Glen?
I'm in the same boat and I was quite lucky getting these shots. My sister spotted one flying in and told me I had just missed a bat. I went back down into the darkness to have a look and just pointed my camera at something dark on the ceiling. It wasn't until we had come back out that I zoomed into the pictures to find that there were 6 of them huddled together.
Thank Glen to be honest i don´t know anything about bats but this is the only one i know the ID :)
Thank you for the ID Gerardo, been waiting for a while hoping someone would have an idea of what these were.
Thank you for the welcoming, guess I never made it back here to read the comments :(.
It was 28c that day, a few degrees cooler down in the catacombs of this old church. I think they just naturally huddle together, maybe to keep warm or maybe for the feeling of being safer in a close group?
Lovely spot Glen! You might like to add this to the Bat Monitoring mission http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/6543173 Welcome to the community!
Nice first spotting on Noah - welcome to the Project!
Welcome Glen to Project Noah! BTW, I moved your bats to the Mammals category :-)
