Field Notes

Description:

From far away, they look like a pear, but up close you can see the difference in the stem and leaves. Up close I saw many of them splitting open, as shown in the second photo.

Habitat:

It looked like they were planted around the parking lot, but I also saw them on many roadsides and areas that were not landscaped during my visit to the area. Helen Putnam Regional Park
