Field Notes

Description:

These leaf beetles are dull colors and feature warty elytral texture.
They mimic gumnuts or bark and are sometimes nocturnal, particularly the larvae. This genus features puncturations on the ventral schlerites so I have taken the final photo to demonstrate these.

Habitat:

Found on foliage of Eucalyptus.

Notes:

This one features a transverse ridge and looks like the larger Trachymela transversalis. This band makes me think of a horse with a saddle. This insect would have to be a pony.
