Field Notes

Description:

Fuzzy soft yellow and black striped body. It has black hairs on its head, abdomen & legs. The thorax is yellow. It feeds on nectar, using its long hairy tongue, proboscis. This looks like the brown-belted bumble bee or common eastern bumble bee.

Habitat:

They live near prairie, fields, gardens.

Notes:

Spotted on a goldenrod plant near the Tamarac visitor center.
