Florida Predatory Stink Bug
Euthyrhynchus floridanus
20.5282, -100.361
Field Notes
Description:
I found about 20 of them (picture #3) on a low-hanging shaded branch of a Prickly Pear. Most were adults. About 12mm in body length, the colour patterns change somewhat, but the metallic blue/green base colour with orange markings and black wing tips were present in all individuals. This species is somewhat particular as it is carnivorous, unlike most shield bugs which feed on plant sap.
Habitat:
Semi-arid region in El Cimatario nature park, just outside Queretaro.
