Description:
This type of bee is found in every continent except for Antarctica. It is a flying insect and is closely related to wasps and ants. Bees eat nectar and pollen, and they produce honey in honeycombs.They have a long tongue called probiscus that allows them to obtain the nectar. Bees live in colonies and have hierarchies that include worker bees and a single queen that directs the colony.
Habitat:
There are many bees in our backyard. We found this bee in a few of our lavender bushes collecting nectar.
Notes:
Bees contribute to a large portion of the spread of pollen that helps the growth of fruits and vegetables.
