Field Notes

Description:

A creeping vine with rough, angular stems covered in small, stiff hairs. Leaves are green, rough, and lobed and also covered in hairs. Flowers are yellow. Depending on conditions, size of the fruit can range from the size of a golf ball to the size of a large grapefruit.

Habitat:

sandy wadis; common in south Sinai

Notes:

Used medicinally in traditional Bedouin medicine to cure digestive problems, diarrhea, rheumatism and joint aches.
