Description:
This plant of many names (in English) is a small plant, about 10 to 15 cm tall, producing basal rosette; all eaves and flower stems all start from it. Flower large, about 3 to 4 cm at the largest point, violet with whitish center.
Habitat:
In spring, grows spontaneously in many gardens, parks and urban grasslands in urban centers; or on edges of forests and natural grasslands and meadows.
Notes:
Interesting plant from a 'gatherer's' point of view: leaves and flowers are edible, and can enter various salads - they are rich in minerals and vitamin A & C . Flowers are also used to parfume some home made drinks and sweet sauces, or simply as decor. It is also widely used in fragrance and perfume industry.
Moreover, some sources state that whole plant was used in traditional medicine, in treatment of respiratory infections. The plant also possesses sudorific and diuretic properties.
