Description:
Most chipmunks are identified by region and elevation. These being the only ones found in lower elevation in central California. Three dark stripes down the back, filled in with white. Rusty color under front legs and behind back legs. Face has two dark stripes that go from below the ears to the nose. White stripe between the dark stripes on face and short white stripe above the eye..
Habitat:
This was spotted going from a mixed forest on one side of the road into a gully, across the road and into the roots on the cliff side where it has it's den in the rocks in the roots.
