Field Notes

Description:

The Rudy Throat Hummingbird travels north starting from Mexico to Virginia and other points north. On average we have between 25 and 40 of them nesting here at our home. They males have a bright red throat while the females have a gray one. They are VERY territorial and will attack any humming bird that tries to use their food source.

Habitat:

They will build nests in high trees. I have yet to get a picture of them because they are so difficult to find them.
