Field Notes

Description:

The top side of the wings is orange with a bold dark border, along with dark brown to black markings on the forewings. There is also some white near the tips of the forewings. The body is somewhat hairy and is green to brown. The underside of the wings is molted brown.

Habitat:

Spotted sunning in a moist roadside ditch in the Wenas Wildlife Area of central Washington State.
