Field Notes

Description:

Caps. Occurring in clusters. Largest cap ca. 6 inches wide, and approximately 3/8 inches thick at the margin. White/off-white with orange-brown margins.Cap surfaces rough/irregular with detritus embedded in tops of caps. Droplets of fluid near margins on top and underside.
Pore surface white. Pores angular, 4-6/mm.

Habitat:

Brackets growing at the base (east and north sides) of a live oak tree (Quercus sp.) growing on the east-facing shore (receives morning/midday sun; shaded in the afternoon) of a reservoir.
