Description:
About an inch long, all crammed together and assuming twiglike posture. Some 'jumped' and swung on silk(?) strings. Most sites suggest Datana ministra, but these lack the signature yellow neck. I'm thinking Datana integerrima (see notes). Red/rusty color was very obvious, undersides and legs a very flashy yellow-orange.
Habitat:
Huge group on a branch of a young ornamental cranberry tree, leaves stripped from the branch
Notes:
- Old black walnut trees in very close proximity, which leads me to think this might be Datana integerrima. O, caterpillar instars...
