Field Notes

Description:

Large greenish coloured ant caring for eggs.

Habitat:

Hotel garden, Karnataka, India.
This was on a garden palmtree which had "pleated"leaves. I saw a web with something moving UNDER the web. This was strange because why would a spider hide under the web? As I pulled the leaf towards me it split along the pleats and I saw this green insect.
At that point of time I did not know I was with royalty! Now I do.
Apologies Your Majesty for disturbing you.
Anyway, by next day she had carted away her precious brood; one by one. Hope they hatch safely.
