Field Notes

Description:

A small bright green Jewel beetle. Jewel beetles usually feed on summer flowers and have a short season. Melobasis feeds on Acacia leaves and appear very early (or late) in the season. I have not seen this one before.

Habitat:

On Acacia (silver wattle)

Notes:

Elytral lateral margin is purple.
Prosternum is red.
