Description:
Thin layer bark tree. Medium height with bright green leaves. The leaves are 3 lobes. The stem is red, so in the autumn season they will turn red and fall off. The veins in the leaves are spread out, Palmate Venation.
Red Maples grow very rapidly. They are well known for their vibrant red foliage. Between the months of April and June, Red Maple trees produce a fruit known as samaras.

Red Maples are found in Eastern Descidous forest in North America. This is apart of the dry tree forest. It can withstand a wide variety of different habitat conditions. The Red Maple can thrive in the sun or shade, wet or dry soil, and high or low altitudes. One reason Red Maples can adapt to various condition is because of its adaptable roots. Red Maples are found in various states as far Maine, Minnesota, Florida, and Texas.

Red maples pollen is important to bees because they flower early in the season. Seeds are often seen as a food source for lots of wild life. Squirrels and chipmunks use this tree as a food source.Wood Ducks are also known to have established their homes with the Red Maple. Red Maples can grow to be 60-90 feet. Red Maples found in the southern parts of North America are known as "swamp maple". Red Maple leaves can even change to yellow and orange during Autumn. Fruits called samaras are also known as helicopters because their wing makes them spin when they fall from the tree. The sap from the Red Maple is one of many to produce edible syrup.
