Field Notes
Description:
It resembles a true bug or beetle when not in flight, but in flight its wings resemble a wasp.
Habitat:
A lake in Battle Creek Michigan.
The Ailanthus webworm is thought to be native to South Florida and the American tropics (south to Costa Rica). It appears to be either adapting to colder areas or staying further north due to changing climates
Notes:
As someone from Costa Rica, it is interesting finding an insect that moved up north due to climate change.
