Field Notes

Description:

Medium sized shrub-like plant. Many branching stems with buds and/or flowers. New flowers have yellow discs (center) with white, rounded petals. As the flowers age the center changes to orange, reddish or purple. Upper leaves small and lanceolate. Lower leaves somewhat heart shaped and winged with toothed edges.

Habitat:

Devil's Hole State Park, Niagara Falls, New York. Growing along a fence line.
