Field Notes

Description:

A leafy green plant, leaves glossy, slightly serrated. Flowers white, open up around a central stamen (?) and splits open, petals then appear to fall backwards with stamen still pointing up but petals pointing down.

Habitat:

We have maybe 5 or 6 plants growing wild beneath a fig tree, close to some riverine forest at an altitude of around 1300m. It is in leaf all year around and only flowers once a year for a very short period (maybe a week)

Great shot! I remember this one. Still no idea. I should show this to a friend at work as well.

There is a blog http://blog.projectnoah.org/ where we post articles from spotters with special insight into different organisms.
