Field Notes

Description:

About 35 cm in length, mainly white bird with greyish wingcovers and back, and orange red bill and legs. Adult, in summer, takes a black crown, which includes the front and nape.

Habitat:

Seen at an (artificial??) lake near Lyon, in Beaujolais region - located in forested hilly region.
