Field Notes

Description:

I usually call these raptor wannabes. About the size of a Mockingbird with almost the same coloring. White underside and gray upper. Black wings with white wing bar. Black mask, bill and top of long tail. <br>
It preys on insects such as grasshoppers and impales them on thorns or barbed wire because it lacks the talons raptors have.

Habitat:

This one was spotted flying and perching near an irrigation ditch and a flooded field.
