Field Notes

Description:

About 1 foot (30 cm) long.

Notes:

This cocoon-like structure was hanging in a tree near our hut. All the leaves at the end of a small branch seem to be folded over and stuck to one another. What kind of insect made this?

Thanks S Frazier, I think this absolutely right. Now that I think back, there were several ants around the structure and on adjacent branches.
That was my thought as well, Chief Red Earth.
