Field Notes

Description:

The forewings and the thorax are black with white veining and margins. The hindwings and abdomen are orange-pink with black patches.

I found this moth in a parking garage

Hi Christine, this is G. parthenice. G. ornata is a Western species.
Heather, I added a shot of one of the hindwings! Hope it's enough to help with species ID. The moth was dead when I went back for a second shot, which made it much easier to get a hindwing shot. But, the moth is now festering with tiny jumping flea-like bugs that were bouncing all over my hands and I had to keep shaking them off...So, I'm hoping that I don't need to go back for more pictures, because yuck. Thanks again for your help!
Thank you Heather, I think it might still be there. I'll check it out and post more pics if I can get them.
It's in the Grammia genus, but you need pics of the hindwings to get a species i.d.
