Field Notes

Description:

The male common kestrel is slightly smaller than the female, he has fewer black spots on the back and wings and the head is grey as opposed to mottled brown. This one was part of a couple (see the female here http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/16933519 and in the fourth picture for comparison).

Notes:

I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked through the photos of this day again. For weeks I thought we had photographed one individual, when it turns out it was a couple that were flying around (we never saw them together). I guess sometimes the mind can play tricks on your eyes, you'll see what you believe you see.
