Delaware Skipper butterfly

There are over 250 species of skipper butterflies in North America (3,000 worldwide). They are named skippers because of their rapid, erratic flight. They are orange and brown in color and rest mostly with their wings closed. They have large bodies, small wings, and hooked antennae. They are difficult to identify in their species because of their similar markings.
