Field Notes

Description:

Cap, tan-brown, convex, ca. 3 inches diameter, dry. Flesh not bruising when sliced.
Pore surface. White/translucent, 2-3 pores/mm; bruising cinnamon brown.
Stipe. Ca. 1 inch diameter, purplish, smooth, enlarging towards the base.
Spore print. Pinkish-brown.
Spores. Smooth, ca. 6-9µ x 2-3µ.

Habitat:

Solitary bolete, growing beside trail in predominantly hardwood (some pines) woods.
