Field Notes

Description:

Small cup of dry grass stems and thin strips of bark, all bound together with cobwebs. Very little lining other than sparse, fine grass. Suspended by its rim...this one approximately 2 metres above ground.

Habitat:

Small tree in the front garden.

Notes:

I became aware of this nest when I saw two yellow-tinted honeyeaters swooping and diving at a Pheasant Coucal that was in the tree. The next day I saw the two honeyeaters swooping and diving at a White-gaped Honeyeater that was exploring the same tree. Unfortunately, a week or so later, there was quite a big wind and I found the little nest on the ground
